Aiming For The Best For Future Generations
We Deliver Measurable Results
The 1990s’ national consensus by South African citizens from different political and social orientations and cultural and religious persuasions with the recognition of the country’s most distinct feature of diversity and pluralism in the democratisation project, marked an important stage in the evolution of our nationhood.
This developmental stage which featured the multi-racialism and none-racialism project inspires the formation of our party whose purpose amongst others is to advance our democracy.
Whilst we acknowledge and celebrate the current democratic dispensation in the Republic, its qualitative sustenance remains a bigger challenge. The challenges facing the development of our democracy will impact significantly on the choices we make as a nation and the path we walk along as a people. The nation has a huge responsibility in nurturing this democracy and ensuring that its values are observed unconditionally. In that sense a new orientation is a must.
Lekgotla for Democracy Advancement stands ready and urges all those who envision true democracy in a free society wherein values of social justice, freedom and equality are primary, to join us in the journey towards realising the objective of Building a Great Nation. A better South Africa has not arrived yet. A better South Africa is mission still to be accomplished. Our generation must set the trend in democracy advancement because we owe it to those coming after us.
Values
Lekgotla for Democracy Advancement observes the following as values:.
- Freedom and equality
- Human dignity
- Good governance
- Participatory Democracy
- Accountability
- Transparency
- Industry
- Integrity
- Responsibility
Lekgotla for Democracy Advancement believes that as individuals, groups, communities and society in general, we are capable of rising up to the challenge. We have to rediscover these values that made good of us as a nation very early in our democracy.
Objectives
The objectives of the party are:
3.1. To strive for the development and sustenance of qualitative democracy (constitutional) for the benefit of all who live in the Republic of South Africa.
3.2. To strive for prosperous society in which all citizens are free to participate in economic, political and social activities irrespective of cultural, religious and political affiliation with the government playing a facilitative role.
3.3. To ensure that citizens access basic services such as education, health, housing and other social amenities as basic rights enshrined in the constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
3.4. To ensure optimisation of citizen education on the workings of constitutional democracy and promote citizen responsibility in ensuring that the rule of law applies at all levels of social strata.
3.5. To ensure citizen awareness of accountability as a constitutional and moral imperative on the part of leadership in all spheres of life.
3.6. To advocate for good governance as an imperative on the part of leadership and administration both in government and private sector, especially for purposes of economic development.
3.7. To strive for excellence, industry, meritocracy and rewarding of such at the individual, group and broader level of our society.
3.8. To promote democratic values and practices within the organisation and champion such in the broader public spaces.
